I have a couple people I'd throw into the mix of this conversation. I won't mention their names to avoid placing pressure on them, but I really think they're going to make a huge impact in just their first year. This is for rookie of the year that is.

I know personally that our lefty, Eric Parvey, would love to make a run at player of the year. He has the ambition to do so and I think we have all seen what happens when he fully applies himself. *Que 2008 ITC All Tournament Team Member*. We'll see what happens I guess, but I know I'll actively push him hard to achieve his goal.

A lot of big names have moved on in the last two years. There are obvious candidates, but I really think someone not so "high profile" will win the award this year.

I am going to submit a name for ROY. Name is Zach Wilkins, 2 hander from Canada(yes another 2 hander for ROY). Averaged around 200 on our local sport shot tournaments in Rochester. Finished 47th at junior gold and is going to Urbana. Obviously this is my prediction and things have yet to play out. But I think this kid will have a very solid rookie year.

I think rookie of the year will be Chris Via, a freshman for Notre Dame (OH). He is a two hander who averaged 227 his senior year for Kenton Ridge High School in Springfield, OH. Not to metion, he's been around the block before, winning back to back state titles his junior and senior years in high school, he'll be able to step up to any pressure and not fold and crumble.

ejuzkiw I agree with you but not for those reasons. The kid just made Junior Team USA as well as doing very well for JTBA this season and past season. He just continues to grow. I think he is making bigger accomplishments than already listed. I don't mean to take anything away from high school accomplishments, but they are usually done on house shots. The aforementioned accomplishments were completed on sport shots and at a higher level of competition, which is what is seen tournament to tournament.

I like the way Via throws the ball and 2 handed release matches up well with college conditions.

If they bowl enough tournaments, I would watch out for that Aaron Groendyk from Grand Valley. I'd say he scored well enough at the Hammer Midwest, because 2nd place is no slouch for your first tier 1 event.

Austin Boulds is in his 2nd year. Very good bowler from IL. Also a great guy. I am waiting for him to get closer and closer to the top.
